Under the tent at Gardiner Farm, the East Hampton Library held its 9th Annual Author's Night. Beginning in 2005 with a handful of dinners and a few hundred attendees, Authors Night has grown to be the premier literary event in the Hamptons with over 125 authors and more than 1,000 people in attendance. |
The evening's Founding Co-Chairs Alec Baldwin and Barbara Goldsmith were joined by Honorary Co-Chairs, authors Robert A. Caro, Nelson DeMille, and Gwyneth Paltrow. The evening began under the tent where guests mingled and met the authors, and were able to buy their books and have them inscribed. From there, the evening continues as some of the authors discuss their most recent book at dinner parties held in private homes throughout the Hamptons. |
Among this year's featured authors were Katie Beers, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Clive Davis, Nelson DeMille, Lidia Bastianich, Eric Fischl, Susan Isaacs, Kitty Kelley, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marcus Samuelsson and Dr. Ruth Westheimer, and many, many more. Proceeds from this benefit the East Hampton Library, a private, non-profit organization, providing library services to the East Hampton Community. |
Katonah, NY — Caramoor celebrated the Opening Night of its 68th Festival Season with a festive gala evening featuring the 50th anniversary of the award-winning and rarely performed musical, She Loves Me. The evening honored the creators of the original 1963 Broadway production of the show, Joe Masteroff (book), Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (music and lyrics), Hal Prince (director), and Barbara Cook (star). She Loves Me is a delightful romantic comedy that derives from the same story that inspired two memorable movies, The Shop Around the Corner and You've Got Mail. The semi-staged production was directed by Tony Award-winner Ted Sperling. He also conduct the Orchestra of St. Luke's. The show starred Alexandra Silber, Santino Fontana, John Cullum, Montego Glover, Ryan Silverman, Brad Oscar, Etai Benshlomo, and Jonathan Freeman. |

Caramoor, the country estate of Walter and Lucie Rosen, was where they built their home and filled it with treasures. Enjoying the pleasure their friends took in the beauty of Caramoor with its art collection, gardens, and musical programs, in 1946 the Rosens established a public trust to open Caramoor to the community. Their musical evenings were the inspiration for the Caramoor International Music Festival, now in its 68th year, and the ongoing Music in the Rosen House series. Since its founding, Caramoor has gained international renown as a cultural institution, presenting music of all types and inspiring artists and audiences alike. |
