Last Thursday night at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, they were hosting their annual Conservatory Ball and honoring Gregory Long, who is celebrating his 25th year anniversary as the Director of the Botanical Garden.

The evening is one of the most beautiful and famous secrets of the New York social set. Its supporters are deeply committed to the Botanical Garden.

For many it is the last big Ball of the Spring social season. Like the Enid Haupt Conservatory that dominates the Garden’s architecture, beautifully produced in the old fashioned sense. The idea is to celebrate the efforts to support the Garden by having a lovely dinner dance with good food, good music and the ladies dressed for the occasion: elegantly.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2014 City Parks Foundation (CPF) held the City Parks Foundation Gala presented at SummerStage in Central Park, an annual fundraising event that supports CPF's free year-round arts, sports, education and community-building programs. The event took place at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, the main stage for CPF's famed free performing arts festival, SummerStage.

The gala and concert raised over $1 million dollars and was the largest single fundraising event in the history of CPF. The funds raised will go to support arts, sports, education and park stewardship programs that benefit over 600,000 people annually in over 750 parks throughout New York City's five boroughs.

At the gala, City Parks Foundation annually presents the People & Parks Award to a recipient who shares CPF's commitment to enriching New York City's parks. Past winners include former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, The Durst Family, Bruce Ratner, David Moore and Jean Troubh. This year's event was co-chaired by David Barse, CEO of Third Avenue Management, David Moore, CEO of Moore Holdings, and Brett Yormark, CEO of the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

This year, CPF honored Andrew Tisch with the 2014 People and Parks Award. Andrew Tisch is Co-Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Loews Corporation. A Board Member since 1997, Tisch first got involved with CPF after seeing trash that covered the field where his son played football. He's been a true leader ever
since, holding a variety of esteemed positions including Finance and Investment Chair, President and Co-Chairman, all contributing to the success of the organization.

Lenox Hill Hospital opened its inaugural Designer Showhouse of New York with a Preview Party on Thursday, May 15. Interior designers Alexa Hampton and Richard Mishaan served as co-chairs of the event. NYC&G (New York Cottages & Gardens) served as the Design Magazine Media Sponsor, NBC TV’s Open House the broadcast sponsor, and Fendi Casa the design sponsor.

All proceeds from The Designer Showhouse of New York benefit the new Lenox Hill HealthPlex, scheduled to open this June.  The Lenox Hill HealthPlex represents a new model of community-based care for West Side residents who have had to travel out of their neighborhoods to access emergency and other critical health care services for the past four years. It will offer health and wellness services with seamless access to 24-hour emergency care and a full range of medical specialists.  The complex will be anchored by Manhattan’s first freestanding Emergency Department and future phases will include an imaging center, ambulatory surgery suite, outpatient rehabilitation programs, health and wellness services, and a host of other medical specialties designed to meet the needs of the community.
