The Mashomack Polo Club hosted the 17th Annual Mashomack International Polo Challenge & Luncheon.
Last Saturday late afternoon in East Hampton, the Reginald Lewis family and Valentino Carlotti hosted a reception for guests and supporters of the launch of All Star Code (ASC) with an inaugural benefit at the Lewis estate overlooking the Atlantic.

Guests including professionals in finance, technology, arts and philanthropy. They were there for the showcase of innovative achievements of the ASC students who have completed its intensive six-week summer program. It was a celebration of the experience achievement, personal and otherwise. Achievement = a Better World for all.
All Star Code was founded by Christina Lewis Halpern, the daughter of Reginald and Loida Lewis. It’s a non-profit dedicated to providing under-represented high school boys of color with skills, networks and know-how to succeed in the tech sector, through a foundation of computer science training and teaching interpersonal skills. ASC’s mission is to attract, prepare and place boys of color in the tech career pipeline.  For additional information, visit www.allstarcode.org

Meanwhile, back by the beautiful sea and the balmy breezes, under the tent on the Lewis lawn, guests mingled to the tropical Latin sounds provided by Jose Conde y Ola Fresca. The cocktail menu was provided by Marcus Samuelson’s Red Rooster Harlem, and everyone was quite happy on all counts. ASC. All Star Code.

On Friday, July 11th, Island Moving Co. held its summer gala Nuit Blanche Opera Garnier - A Luminous Evening of Performance in the Magical Gardens of Bellevue House.

Dancers dived into the pool for an emotional aquatic ballet, an opera singer trilled in the pergolas, and New York's Tin Pan Band led 400 guests through the magnificent gardens of Bellevue House, Newport, from performance to exciting performance. It was an artistic Folie among Ronald Lee Fleming's gardens at Bellevue House in Newport.

Nuit Blanche's theme this year was "Opéra Garnier," inspired by the glorious Paris Opera House with its colorful Marc Chagall ceiling, featuring stunning décor by artist/designer John Sawicki.  Newport's resident contemporary ballet company invited musicians, singers, painters and other artists to join the Company's dancers in short performances set among the allées, follies and ornamental pools of the gardens.  The evening also included a live auction, hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and dancing for all to music by New York's Tin Pan Band.

Ballroom dancers from FloorTime studios graced the garden, opera singer Youngchul Park sang thrillingly, musician Taeyoung Lee played, the Parisian duo On Est Gentils acted, violinist John Bergin, Mime Vlad Tenenbaum, and a musical duo, La Merchante et le Connard, played, Olympic bronze medalist figure skater Marissa Castelli from Cranston was a special guest.

The guests wandered the gardens and the performances at their leisure until musicians and dancers led them to the tent for a live auction led by Emlen Drayton, and a silent auction of very select items. The "Nuit Blanche" shoe competition was afoot, the winner receiving a gift certificate to Jo's American Bistro in Newport.

"Nuit Blanche" colloquially means "sleepless night", and the dancing continued well into the night. No one wanted to sleep.
