| LongHouse Reserve—legendary textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen’s not-for-profit sculpture garden, art museum, and educational organization— hosted its WHITE HOT + Blue 2 summer benefit on July 19th. Taking place on the foundation’sbeautiful 16-acre East Hampton grounds, LongHouse Reserve honored acclaimed photographer, filmmaker and social commentator Cindy Sherman with the LongHouse Award, and Agnes Gund, philanthropist, patron, collector, President Emerita of MoMA, and founder of Studio in a School with the LongHouse Art Leadership Award. More than 500 guests attired in their finest white and blue were treated to a frisky and festive reception where they were greeted by larger-than-life Cindy Sherman photographs hung among the trees. Partygoers also had a rare opportunity to mingle amongst Fashion Institute of Technology’s ‘Fowl Play’ exhibit as the students’ spectacular bird ensembles flourished in their natural habitat. |

| The Brooklyn Peaches Synchronized Swimmers, decked out in bespoke Malia Mills blue and white bikinis, made a very splashy pop-up performance. Pop surrealist Mike Knife, artistic dancer and water performer Heather Whatever and devilishly delightful Beelzebabe, all added to the evening’s endless entertainment. The festivities concluded with a grand dinnerbeneath the stars, and dessert and an After Dance Party with the stunningly stylish and bedazzled DJ Donna D’Cruz. Music was provided by Kevin Thompson and Mike Thies of Live Footage, a cinematic, experimental, and melodic sound of Dub and Hip Hop. John Houshmand’s music/art-instrument/improvisation group performed as well. |

| Projected images from the #HearstLovesLongHouse Instagram campaign and “selfie” photo booth stations also amused guests during the evening. WHITE HOT + BLUE 2 was organized by LongHouse Reserve President Dianne B., and Executive Director Matko Tomicic; LongHouse Reserve Board of Trustees, including honorary chairs Edward Albee, Kim Cattrall, Rufus Wainwright, Jorn Weisbrodt, Fred Wilson, and Robert Wilson, among others; and LongHouse Reserve Founder and Curator, the esteemed Jack Lenor Larsen. The Silent Auction was conducted by fine art auction house Paddle8, and included works by Laurie Anderson, Alice Aycock, Dale Chihuly, Issey Miyake for Artemide, Cindy Sherman, Kiki Smith, and Robert Wilson, among many others. |

| LongHouse Reserve is a not-for-profit organization with close-to-16 beautiful acres in East Hampton, New York. Through its art collections, arboretum, sculpture gardens, and educational programs, LongHouse Reserve brings together art and nature, aesthetics and spirit, with the strong conviction that living with art in all its forms is central to living fully and living creatively. It seeks to expand the imaginations of all its visitors, no matter what age or level of appreciation. Each year the LongHouse Reserve presents major exhibitions in the pavilion and the gardens. Currently, there are more than 60 sculptures for the gardens including works of glass by Dale Chihuly, ceramics by Toshiko Takaezu, bronzes by Peter Voulkos, Lynda Benglis and Willem de Kooning. Works by Alexander Calder, Alfonso Ossorio, Yoko Ono, Pavel Opocensky, and Takashi Soga are also on view, while the installation of a “Fly’s Eye Dome” designed by Buckminster Fuller and a site-specific Sol Lewitt piece add interesting scale and dimension. |

| The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) held its 5th Annual Unconditional Love Gala on Saturday, July 19th at a private waterfront home in Southampton. Gala chair Jean Shafiroff, Board President Jonathan McCann and Chairwoman Emeritus Susan Allen hosted this year’s James Bond themed event, which honored animal advocate Georgina Bloomberg.Mayor Michael Bloomberg came out to support Georgina and the Shelter, as did Southampton Mayor Mark Epley and Mayoral candidate John Catsimatidis and his wife, Margo. Honorary Corporate Chairs for the Unconditional Love Gala included Allen & Co.,Barclays, Ferguson Cohen, LLP and Sequin Jewelry. Beth Stern, Les Alexander and Liz Brown, Amanda Taylor, Charles McConnell, Liz and Jackie Shafiroff, Sharon Bush, Joel Cooper, Valentine and Yaz Hernandez, Bob and Jewel Morris were among the supporters, enjoying dinner by Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs and dancing to the music of the Alex Donner Orchestra. |

| Emcee Rachel Grant welcomed over 300 guests to the event and introduced Jean Shafiroff who thanked everyone that made the evening a great success including Susan Allen, auction chairs Amy Cosman and Nancy Jane Loewy, Board Members Cliff and Raya Knight, Cathy Deumler, Martin Shafiroff, and Wendy Wegner who also helped make the auction, which included trips to St. Barth and Anguilla, a stay in a German castle, and a weekend in Manchester, Vermont, possible. Auctioneer George McNeely, made the splendid donations come to life for the attendees. |

| The real stars of the evening were the cutest kitty cats and chow mix puppies, seven adult and baby Chihuahuas and a loveable bulldog mix who were all up for adoption. Proceeds raised from the Unconditional Love Gala help SASF to continue to care for over 1,200 homeless animals per year and funds raised during the night’s cash call went to support the spay/neuter program at the shelter clinic as well as the mobile low cost van granted to the Shelter by the ASPCA. Proceeds from the event also supported the SASF’s work with No More Tears Rescue to rehabilitate and find homes for adult dogs rescued from puppy mills, with The Humane Society of Northwest Georgia to take in dogs on death-row and find them permanent homes, and with the ASPCA to save dogs from cruelty and disaster situations and place them in safe homes. The Shelter also runs programs that help special needs children, along with educating, mentoring and implementing SASF's "Playing For Life" program, created by their Training & Behavior Director, Aimee Sadler, which is currently in over 40 shelters and highlighted at the major animal conferences throughout the U.S. |
