NYC has reached new record levels of homelessness. Over 50,000 people including 21,000 children will sleep in emergency shelters tonight. For over 30 years the Coalition has been the most important advocate for homeless New Yorkers. Coalition for the Homeless fights for decent affordable housing policies while also providing crisis services, job training, permanent homes and special programs for children to more than 3,500 of our most vulnerable neighbors each day.

The event brings together this philanthropic group of bright-young-things to support BCNY and its programs for inner-city boys. Many of the guests hail from families who have a long history of involvement with The Boys' Club, often spanning several generations.

The Boys' Club of New York is the nation's oldest boys club, founded in 1876. Through its clubhouses and summer camp, BCNY offers programs that help boys and young men stay in school and go on to college, discover their individual musical and artistic talents, develop healthy bodies, and just have fun. Over 70% of BCNY boys live in single-parent, female-headed homes, most on public assistance. For membership dues of only $5 a year, the boys have access to gyms, swimming pools, computer labs, music studios, and a host of activities that they enjoy and that enrich their lives. BCNY helps build boys into men of character with strong values, discipline, and a positive perspective that counters the negative forces found on city streets.

This past Monday night, Georgette Farkas celebrated the launch of her new Upper East Side restaurant, Rôtisserie Georgette, with a cocktail reception benefiting Citymeals-on-Wheels, which supplies a continuous lifeline of nutritious food and human company to New York City's homebound elderly.

100 guests savored some of what Georgette's chic French-accented, rotisserie-themed restaurant has to offer. For the occasion chef David Malbequi translated his menu into small bites in the form of roast chicken sliders, roast lamb tartines and mousse de foie de volaille, to name but a few. The whole roast suckling pig Basquaise was a highlight of the evening, ending with a selection of the restaurant's house-made cookies and ice creams.

Event sponsors included Bedell Cellars, Baldor Specialty Foods, D'Artagnan, as well as Citymeals-on-Wheels Official Sponsor FIJI Water. The evening was co-hosted by Avenue magazine's Randi Schatz.

Feeding and caring for older New Yorkers since 1981, Citymeals-on-Wheels (citymeals.org) supplies a continuous lifeline of nutritious food and human company to our city's homebound elderly. Citymeals works with 33 community-based meal centers to deliver nearly 2 million weekend, holiday and emergency meals to 17,000 of our frail aged neighbors. Last year, more than 12,000 volunteers provided over 45,000 hours of compassionate visits and created more than 57,000 handmade greeting cards to celebrate holidays and birthdays. One hundred percent of donations from the public to Citymeals goes toward the preparation and delivery of meals for our most vulnerable neighbors.

American Friends of the Louvre ("AFL") was founded by the Musée du Louvre to strengthen ties between the Louvre and its American public, and to formalize the long-standing generosity of American patrons. Approximately one million Americans visit the Louvre each year, making it the most popular art museum for Americans traveling abroad.

Through special fundraising events and activities in New York City, the Young Patrons Circle supports AFL's mission to raise awareness for the Louvre's collections and museum expertise.
